Yakubbhai Meer and Sabirbhai Meer are residents of Samakhiyali in Kutchh. The duo are engaged in the occupation of selling brocade and other borders used for enhancing and ornamentation of sarees, blouse, chaniya-choli etc. Surat is a huge market for buying such decorative borders. It offers immense choice for both the type and price of such stuff . Both Yakubbhai and Samirbhai would travel to Surat to buy them. With limited cash on hand the purchase would be very limited of course. With Rs. 2000 in pocket they set out to buy material from Surat, spending almost Rs. 500 on commute, with the balance Rs. 1500 it is difficult to get substantial amount of material.
VSSM got into touch with these families and assisted them in getting their indignity documents. The dialogue also gave us a sense of their economic condition and struggles for earning livelihood. VSSM’s Ishwarbhai and Nareshbhai taught the children of these Meer families. Yakubbhai and Sabirbhai requested the Baldosts to help the get some financial assistance from VSSM. We helped them with a loan of Rs. 15,000 each.
With the money they bought enough stock from Surat and set out to sell it in the region of Saurashtra, where there is great demand for borders and lace. After a few days they come back to their home town where they resume selling in the main market by renting a hand cart. They are earning well, have opened a bank account are saving for building a home.

રૂ.૨૦૦૦ની લેસપટ્ટી લાવીને વેચતા યાકુબભાઈ અને સબીરભાઈ હવે વધારે રકમનું રોકાણ કરતા થયા છે..
યાકુબભાઇ મીર અને સબીરભાઈ મીર કચ્છના સામખ્યારીમાં રહે. શિક્ષણ જરાય નહિ.. એટલે કુશળતાવાળું કામ ફાવે નહિ. લેસપટ્ટી વેચવાનું કામ એ કરે. પણ મૂડી રોકાણ થઇ શકે એવી સગવડ નહિ. રૂ.૨,૦૦૦ ભેગા થાય એટલે સુરત જાય અને ત્યાંથી લેસ લઇ આવે અને ગામડામાં ફરીને વેચે.
આ પરિવારોના સંપર્કમાં આવવાનું થયું ત્યારે એમની આર્થિક મુશ્કેલીની સાથે સાથે એમને આ દેશના જરૂરી આધાર પુરાવાની કેટલી જરૂર છે એ પણ સમજાયું. આધાર પુરાવા કાઢવવામાં vssmએ મદદ કરી. આ દરમ્યાન એમની આર્થિક મૂંઝવણ અંગે પણ ખ્યાલ આવ્યો. રૂ.૨૦૦૦માં લેસ લેવા માટે તેઓ છેક સુરત જાય, ભાડામાં જ રૂ. ૫૦૦ જતા રહે. વધ્યા રૂ.૧૫૦૦ એમાંથી સામાન લાવીને વેચે.. આમાં માર્જિનમની પણ ના નીકળે. આ પરિવારના બાળકોને ભણાવતા vssmના બાલદોસ્ત ઈશ્વર અને પરેશે બે ભાઇઓને વધારે જથ્થામાં લેસપટ્ટી ખરીદવા લોન આપવા વિનંતી કરી. શરૂઆત બે વ્યક્તિને રૂ.૧૫,૦૦૦ એમ કુલ રૂ.૩૦,૦૦૦ની લોન આપીને કરી.
આ રકમમાંથી બંને ભાઇઓ સુરતથી લેસ લાવ્યા અને એ વેચવા માટે સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં ફરે. સૌરાષ્ટ્રમાં લેસપટ્ટીની ખપત ઘણી છે. થોડા દિવસો આ રીતે ફેરી કરીને એ સામખ્યારી પરત આવે અને સામખ્યારીમાં દૈનિક રૂ.૨૦ આપીને ભાડેથી લારી લઈને લેસપટ્ટી લઈને બજારમાં ઉભા રહે અને ધંધો કરે છે. સારું કમાય છે. ઘર બાંધવા પૈસા ભેગા કરવા છે.. ગ્રામીણ બેંકમાં ખાતા ખોલાવ્યા છે. જેમાં તેઓ બચત કરે છે.
