If Bachubhai Bajaniya had his way all he would do is immerse himself in a business of selling cosmetics and imitation jewellery. But with severe lack of funds that was a distant dream. Instead he had earn his living by working as a manual labourer. But whenever he had the opportunity, meaning enough money, he would buy some stuff from the town of Patdi and sell it in his village Vanod and its neighbouring villages. Babubhai’s wife Ragiben too has knack and skill to do business but its difficult of both of them to be in the same job since one was required to earn the daily income.
Vicharta Samudaay Samarthan Manch - VSSM decided to support them with a loan of Rs 10,000. The amount was their revolving fund. With this money Bachubhai brought products and material from wholesale market. It gave them the power to negotiate with the wholesale merchants. Earlier Bachubhai with very limited savings Bachubhai was required to buy goods at retail rate hence making more profit wasn’t possible for him. These days the husband-wife duo sets out in different villages and does brisk sales. The profit is good and since they now buy in regular basis the merchants know them and gives them good price.
With the double income they now can manage to save some amount. Ragiben’s income is deposited in bank which is later used to buy goods and material while Bachubhai income is used to run the household. Now the couple does not need to go and work as manual labour. As Bachubhai says, “ I can understand that if one has no other relevant skills working as manual labour is the only option left, but I have skills to do business and am sure those skills would eventually make me successful but it is very frustrating when one has to work as a labourer just because he/she has not capital required to do some business, working as a daily wage earner it isn’t possible to save even Rs. 5,000.”
Rs. 10,000 may seem a small amount but for individuals like Bachubhai Bajaniya a Nomadic Tribes it leaves a profound impact and helps drastically change their lives for better.
Bachubhai now dreams of education his youngest son all the way and marry him at a later age deciding not to repeat the mistakes he made with his elder two sons……...
વિચરતા પરિવારોને પગભર કરવાની દીશામાં vssmની પહેલ...
બચુભાઈ બજાણિયા સુરેન્દ્રનગર જીલ્લાના દસાડાતાલુકાના વણોદગામમાં રહે. શૃંગાર પ્રસાધનો વેચવાનું એમને સૌથી વધુ ફાવે અને ગમે. પણ મૂડી રોકાણ કરી શકે એવી આર્થિક ક્ષમતા નહિ. એટલે મજૂરી કરે અને રૂ. ૧૦૦0 કે રૂ.૨૦0૦ ભેગા થાય એટલે પાટડી જઈને સામાન ખરીદી લાવે અને વેચે. આમ તો બચુભાઈના પત્ની રાગીબહેનને પણ આ બધું ફાવે પણ બંને જણ ધંધો કરી શકે એવું પૈસાની મુશ્કેલીના કારણે શક્ય ના બને.
આ પરિવારને vssmમાંથી રૂપિયા ૧૦,૦૦૦ની લોન આપી. જેમાંથી તેઓ એક સામટો સામાન લાવ્યા અને ગામડામાં ફેરી કરીને વેચવા માંડ્યા. પતિ-પત્ની બન્ને જુદા જુદા ગામોમાં જઈને વેપાર કરે. રાગીબહેનની આવક બેંકમાં જમા કરે અને બચુભાઈની આવકમાંથી ઘર ચાલે. સામાન ખરીદવાની જરૂર પડે એટલે રાગીબેનની બચતમાંથી સામાન ખરીદાય.. હવે મજૂરી કરવા જવું નથી પડતું.
આમ તો રૂ.૧૦,૦૦૦ ખુબ નાની રકમ કહેવાય પણ નાના નાના વ્યવસાય કરવાવાળા વિચરતા પરિવારો માટે તો આ રકમ પહાડ જેવડી મોટી છે. બચુભાઈ કહે છે એમ, ‘કંઈ આવડત ના હોય તો ઘર ચલાવવા મજૂરી કરવી પડે એ તો સમજાય અને એ કરવું પણ પડે પણ મારી તો આવડત છે પૈસા હોય તો હું ખુબ સારો ધંધો કરી શકું પણ મૂડી ના હોય અને વળી પાછું મન પણ સામટી મજૂરી કરીને પૈસા ભેગા કરવા તૈયાર નહિ. એટલે ૫૦૦ -૧૦૦૦ ભેગા થાય એટલે પાટડી ઉપડી જાઉં અને જે સામાન આવે એ લઇ આવું અને વેચું. પણ આટલા પૈસામાં મને કંઈ હોલસેલના ભાવે વેપારી સામાન ના આપે. વળી નિયમિત લેતો હોવું તો જુદી વાત હતી પણ એમ પણ નહોતું. પણ હવે સંસ્થાના કારણે બધું ગોઠવાઈ રહ્યું છે.’ બચુભાઈના બે મોટા દીકરા પરણીને અલગ રહે છે અને છૂટક મજૂરી કરે છે. જયારે નાનો દીકરો ધો.૧૦માં અભ્યાસ કરે છે જેને ખુબ ભણાવવાની બચુભાઈની ઈચ્છા છે. આમ તો બજાણીયા સમાજમાં બાળલગ્નનું પ્રમાણ પણ છે પણ અભ્યાસ કરી રહેલા દીકરાના નાની ઉંમરમાં લગ્ન નહિ કરવાનો પણ એમણે નિર્ધાર કર્યો છે..
